Dr. Straus is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his Foot & Ankle/Sports Fellowship at the Foundation for Orthopaedic, Athletic, and Reconstructive Research with Dr. Thomas O. Clanton, in Houston, TX. Dr. Straus continues to pursue the latest advancements in orthopaedic technology.

Dr. Straus is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of knee, ankle, and foot conditions. With advanced training in both sports-related injuries and degenerative disorders, Dr. Straus provides comprehensive care ranging from minimally invasive procedures to complex reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Straus grew up in Charlotte, NC, and attended a prestigious boarding magnet high school in Durham, NC; The North Carolina School for Science and Mathematics. He then attended Texas A&M University on a full academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biomedical Science. He subsequently was accepted into medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX and graduated in 2001. His orthopaedic residency training was completed in Charleston, SC at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2006. He then completed fellowship subspecialty training in lower extremity reconstructive surgery (knee, ankle and foot surgery) at the Fellowship for Orthopaedic, Athletic, and Reconstructive Research in Houston, TX in 2007.

Dr. Straus has been involved in the care of professional athletes with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. He is fluent in Spanish, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Dr. Straus continues to pursue the latest advancements in orthopaedic technology, including ankle replacement and ligament reconstruction. He has served as a designer on multiple orthopedic implant systems including the Omni™ Stable AF Ankle Repair System by Extremity® Medical, which offers better customization and results for routine and complex ankle fracture repair.

I’m committed to evidence-based medicine and personalized treatment plans designed to restore mobility, reduce pain, and help patients return to their desired level of activity. I emphasize patient education, shared decision-making, and conservative treatment to ensure optimal outcomes.
