About

Dr. Atkinson

Dr. Atkinson

Originally from West Deptford, New Jersey; Dr. Cameron T. Atkinson specializes in hand, wrist, and upper extremities. After graduating from Princeton University in June of 2003, he received his Doctor of Medicine at Vanderbilt School of Medicine.

Dr. Atkinson completed his Orthopedic Residency at Vanderbilt Department of Orthopaedics in June of 2013 and Fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University in July of 2014.

In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Atkinson is also a multi-talented athlete. As a running back for Princeton University, he excelled both on and off the field. His love of sports transitions into a lifelong passion for strength and weight training. As a proud family man, Dr. Atkinson loves retelling patients the story his favorite memory – when he asked his wife to marry him. In his free time, he enjoys sitting in his office reading historical biographies and watching his favorite television show, the medical comedy, Scrubs.

When asked about his perfect day, Dr. Atkinson envisioned, “I would be at the beach with my wife and kids.”

The most important thing any physician does is make a diagnosis. Second is manage expectations. Finally, we have to meet the patients where they are, taking into account their activity level, overall health, and occupation. My goal is for every patient to walk away from an appointment with an understanding of the problem, knowledge of what is to come next, and a belief that I will do everything I can to get them back to activity.
