Meet Keith Heier

Dr. Heier is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle conditions, including sports and trauma injuries, fractures, arthritis, and ankle replacements. Fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery and previously subspecialty certified in sports medicine, he has extensive experience in complex reconstructions, fusions, total ankle replacements, and arthroscopy.

A University of Pennsylvania graduate, Dr. Heier earned his M.D. from the University of Florida (ranking third in his class) before completing his residency at Baylor College of Medicine and a fellowship at Florida Orthopedic Institute. His passion for orthopedics stems from his love of sports and helping injured patients return to an active lifestyle.

Dr. Heier has consulted for leading ankle replacement systems, including The Agility™ Ankle and STAR™ Total Ankle, and has extensive experience with the Infinity Prophecy System™, which enhances surgical precision using CT scans to make patient specific implants. These advances in surgical techniques and implants now allow for faster recovery and earlier weight-bearing.

He serves as the Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Specialist for FC Dallas, Texas Rangers (MLB), Tarleton State University, and the University of North Texas Athletic Department. Previously, he was the team physician for Hebron High School (1999–2019). He has also held leadership roles as President of Texas Health Resources’ Plano Department of Orthopedics and a Board of Managers member for THCDS hospital in Plano.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Heier has authored medical chapters on ankle fractures, dislocations, and arthrodesis and is a longtime reviewer for orthopedic medical journals. His patient care philosophy is to treat patients like family, offering all treatment options to help them make informed decisions.

Outside of work, Dr. Heier enjoys tennis and traveling. He lives in Dallas with his wife and their three Labradoodles.
