Occupational Therapist in Carrollton, TX
In grade school, Kristin sustained a lateral and medial epicondyle fracture with a radial nerve palsy. She was not sent to therapy and was told her left elbow would be crippled.
Family members decided no. Therapy was requested and was not successful due to excessive scar tissue formation. The excessive scar tissue was a result of 2 PIN removed 6 weeks later and a longer period of casting resulting in a stuck elbow . Her family was persistent. Slowly over 1 year of daily therapy at home, her elbow motion was restored. The palsy resolved in 1 year as well allowing me to resume non dominate hand activities and discontinue the palsy and stretch splints. She wanted to do more than the therapist learning manual releases.
30 years of experience has taught me, Therapy does not have to be painful and traumatic improve function. Pain is shortened or adherent tissue ie skin, fascia, nerve or tendon that requires releasing or restoring length. Utilizing release techniques through cupping, gentle IASTM (Instrument Soft Tissue Massage ), Kinesiology tape and vibration will restore mobility and length for pain free function.
