Dr. TJ Harris was drawn to medicine by a love for people and a passion for lifelong learning. He found his calling in orthopedics, a field that allows him to work with his hands while helping patients experience meaningful improvements in their quality of life.
He is fascinated by the biomechanics of the human body and how injuries impact movement and function.
Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Harris served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He completed deployments to Iraq, Fallujah and Al Asad. His experience in the military instilled the values of discipline, service, and resilience that continue to shape his approach to patient care today.
Dr. Harris specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, including robotic-assisted procedures. He chose this area of focus because it provides the opportunity to restore function in two of the body’s most complex joints. With joint replacements in high demand, he is committed to refining his skills and delivering exceptional results for each patient.
Joint replacement has evolved significantly in recent years. Technological advancements have led to longer-lasting implants and techniques that more closely replicate natural movement. Robotic-assisted surgery allows for more precise planning and execution, enhancing accuracy and consistency during procedures.
Dr. Harris joined Orthopedic Associates because of the practice’s strong reputation and the growing need for high-quality joint care in the community. He and his wife were drawn to the area for its excellent schools and the ability to raise their family near Dallas and Fort Worth without the challenges of living in a big city.
His patient care philosophy is rooted in his Christian faith. He believes that God has entrusted him with the ability and responsibility to serve others through surgery. He treats every patient the way he would want his own loved ones to be treated, with compassion, skill, and integrity.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Harris and his family enjoy attending church and serving their community. Much of his free time is spent supporting his children’s sporting activities. His personal interests include fitness, shooting sports, travel, and audiobooks.
I believe that having a servant’s heart is an essential part of providing quality care to patients. God has entrusted me with the ability and responsibility to serve others through surgery. With serving others at the heart of what I do, I treat every patient the way I would want my loved ones to be treated.
